Today while I was journaling<\/a>, I had a childhood memory from about age six.\u00a0 I had accompanied my father to work for the day.\u00a0 Like any six year old, I was looking for something to do to keep me busy and out of my father\u2019s way.\u00a0 I decided on my project for the day and got busy creating love notes to everyone in my father\u2019s office.\u00a0 I was so excited to share love.\u00a0 I took extra care to draw a special picture and to write \u201cI Love You\u201d in my best handwriting.\u00a0 I hand delivered each note placing it in just the right spot on everyone\u2019s desk.\u00a0\u00a0 After finishing, I sat back and relished in my wonderful work.\u00a0 I was so proud of myself.\u00a0 I couldn\u2019t wait to tell my Dad.\u00a0 After all, who couldn\u2019t use more love and cheer?
\nMy Dad finished up for the day and I almost burst with pride while showing him my work.\u00a0 Much to my surprise, my Dad was horrified.\u00a0 He quickly went around the office collecting my work.\u00a0 I was confused.\u00a0 He explained to me that this just wasn\u2019t something you do in an office setting.\u00a0 I was still confused.\u00a0 Love is love, right?\u00a0 Looking back, I suspect this was one of my first hints that I wouldn\u2019t be happy working in a corporate office for long.
\n<\/a>That day, I think my heart closed a little as I tried to digest the appropriate place for love in the world.\u00a0 As an adult and a parent myself, I know that my actions were just fine for a little girl.\u00a0 I find great joy seeing my little one drawing hearts, peace signs, smiles and \u201cI love you\u201d notes to anyone who will have them.\u00a0 I also know that what I witnessed may have been my father\u2019s own insecurities with sharing the softer side of himself in his responsible manager job.\u00a0 He meant no strong judgment on me and he continued to encourage me to express myself via art and theatre for many years.
\nThis story begs the question though, \u201cWhat is the Proper Etiquette for Sharing Love?\u201d
\nOur society today is becoming more conscious. Unconditional love is playing a bigger role in personal development.\u00a0 Many experts suggest that our heart has as much intelligence as our brains.\u00a0 Additionally, spiritual thought leaders teach us that our entire mission on Earth is to open our hearts to the goodness around us.\u00a0 The acceptance of Love is growing but it\u2019s still got a long way to go.
\nI have a good friend who often shares his feelings and gratitude for others.\u00a0 He\u2019s very open and generous with his kind words and heartfelt comments.\u00a0 This is one of the big reasons I like him.\u00a0 Sometimes though, people don\u2019t know how to receive his affection.\u00a0 They aren\u2019t accustomed to casual friends so openly sharing their positive feelings.\u00a0 Why is this?\u00a0 Years and years of conditioning and fear perhaps?\u00a0 I wonder how our world would be different if we were all evolved enough to share and receive love from everyone around us.
\nWe can\u2019t change the whole world in an instant but real change starts with each one of us.\u00a0 If you openly share more love, you\u2019ll start receiving more love.\u00a0 And so it begins\u2026
\nSo, what is the proper etiquette for sharing love?\u00a0 It\u2019s up to you to help set a new standard.\u00a0 As for me, I state my affections and gratitude often and all my clients get hugs on the way out the door whether they like it or not\u2026
