Angie Shares Her Thoughts on Life Purpose with Gregory During the Interview
So, what is life purpose and how can knowing about it help you come out of the pandemic with a higher level of consciousness, and ultimately allow you to show up as a better, happier person? This is what Angie and Gregory discuss on this episode together.
According to Angie, we all have our life purpose from day one when we are born. Although we are born with a level of knowing what that is, we must go through life and put in work to really understand what that purpose is. And, once we find out what our purpose is and what that looks like, we will be able to move ourselves into a higher level of consciousness and help contribute to the greater good of the world. As Angie shared in the interview with Gregory, there are things we can do to move towards seeing the bigger picture of our own life purpose:
- Focus
on strengths and let go of everything else: While we may not be fully aware of what our strengths are, we should know what they are on some level. We can use feedback in our lives to gain a better understanding of what our strengths are. For instance, we can look back on
different stages of our lives to determine what we are good at and what we enjoy
doing. Another important piece is knowing that just because we are good at
something, it doesn’t mean we have to pursue it. We should ultimately focus on doing the things we are good at and that also bring us joy. Other ways to find our strengths include taking personality tests like StrengthsFinder; 16 Personalities, Ultimate Life Tool Test and VIA strength survey. If you work in the corporate world, you can also look at your performance reviews or client testimonials to hear what other people have to say about you and what you are good at.
- Serving
others: when we help others, we become less focused on ourselves and our own problems. It also helps us to feel healthy and good about ourselves when we help those around us.
- Knowing
who you are: if you are not sure what your strengths, weaknesses and/or values are, now’s the time to dig in. Angie believes that it is important for us to understand who we are and what our values are. Once we really see ourselves and understand that we are not all Mercedes, some of us are Toyotas, we will learn to understand our greater purpose in life and ultimately be happier and healthier individuals.
Why Self Care and Self Awareness is So Important During the
Pandemic
Angie also discussed how so many people are starting to hit walls because of the pandemic. During the interview she talks about how it is extremely important to focus on self-care so we can get ourselves back in alignment when we feel ourselves hitting those walls. For example, when you are in a cycle of having a good day then a bad day then a good day then a bad day, you may feel stuck. But, according to Angie, life isn’t designed that way and we aren’t designed that way either. She believes that we are designed to improve and get better every single day. So, when the pendulum of life is swinging wildly back and forth, we will naturally feel unsettled. But, as we do daily work which includes self-care and self-awareness and getting in touch with our purpose, we are able to lessen the swing of the pendulum, so it no longer feels so severe or overwhelming.
Angie also talks about how important it is to remember that while in the pandemic we have two choices. We can either watch the news and get ourselves into a tizzy or we can focus within and change our own vibrations. She suggests that we can change the world by changing ourselves and the way we show up.
This makes sense, don’t you think? We can’t expect to solve problems with the same level of consciousness, and we will not be effective at creating solutions unless we can focus on ourselves because until we start vibrating on a higher level, we will never be able to move things.
What Does it Mean to Move into a Higher Level of Consciousness?
A higher level of consciousness occurs when we realize that we are not victims of our own lives and, in fact, we can create in our own lives. This gives us the power to change the world as we begin to work through our own past traumas and wounds and move away from them. We stop blaming people for what happened to us and we start realizing that we are all connected and that we are all part of the solution. By working on ourselves and raising our own level of consciousness, we can all be part of raising the level of the consciousness of the whole world…and that is where true change happens.
Practice and rituals: these are things that can bring us back
to our center when we are all over the place including tools like prayer, meditation, yoga, energy practices, journaling and being in like-minded communities.
Patience and trust: if you can get your mind around
believing there is something bigger and better that is supporting you and everyone – be it God, nature, spirits – then you will have a knowing inside of you so you can go back and believe that things that happen that are hard are for a greater purpose.
Ultimately, in this episode, Gregory and Angie talk about life purpose and how if we can start expanding ourselves and our awareness by doing these practices and setting clear goals about how we want to feel in our lives, then we can step into an understanding that faith and patience is an act of pursuit.
